Translation instructions
This page contains information on how to localize PGP. If you want to
translate PGP, please contact me so I can add your name to the list of
translators.
PGP 6.5.1i for Windows 95/98/NT
Requirements: Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0
- Download the PGP 6.5.1i source code for Windows
- Read these instructions by Steinar H. Gunderson <sgunderson@bigfoot.com>
Note: The platform SDK, the DDKs, MASM and the Vireo tools mentioned in the file BUILD.txt are only needed for building the device drivers (which does not contain any
language-specific code). If you don't have these, you can use the files from the PGP 6.5.1i binary distribution instead.
PGP 6.5 User's Guide for Windows 95/98/NT
Requirements: A word processor, e.g. Word or Word Perfect
- Download Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you don't already have it)
- Download the English PGP User's Guide in PDF format
- Type your translation into your word processor (you can use the French 6.0 translation as your document template)
- Generate PDF, HTML etc. from the finished document
PGP 6.5.1i for Macintosh
You have two alternatives to translate MacPGP. Choose one of them:
a) Requirements: ResCompare
- Download PGP 6.5.1i for Macintosh
- Translate all dialogs, menus and other resources (using MPW, PowerGlot,
AppleGlot, ResEdit, etc.)
- Create a patcher using ResCompare
b) Requirements: MetroWerks CodeWarrior Pro 2
- Download the PGP 6.5.1i source code for Macintosh
- Translate all dialogs, menus and other resources
- Compile with CodeWarrior
PGP 6.5 User's Guide for Macintosh
Requirements: A word processor, e.g. Word

PGP 2.6.3i/5.0i/6.5.1i command line
Requirements: A text editor, e.g. emacs
- Download the source code (2.6.3i / 5.0i / 6.5.1i)
- Load the file language[50].txt into your favourite text editor
- Add new lines "xx=" where xx is your two-letter language code
